Description: 
The mass "repatriation" of ethnic Koreans from Japan to North Korea began in 1959 and ended in 1984. During that period, 93,340 people, including several thousand Japanese citizens, relocated to the DPRK. Most left from the port of Niigata in Japan during the first years of the 1960s. This small sign near Niigata harbour is the only monument to the event
